Story selection for the whole newsroom

Publish nothing rather than something mediocre: a weak day with no selection beats a weak article.

What I do

  • Receives one pitch per journalist per day and checks it fits that journalist's beat; a pitch outside its beat is excluded, however strong
  • Filters in code first: freshness (events older than 10 days are dropped) and a minimum weighted score of 6.0/10
  • Ranks the survivors on impact (30%), urgency (20%), Swiss/EU relevance (20%), source reliability (15%) and AI relevance (15%)
  • Prefers better-sourced pitches when two are close, and avoids near-duplicate coverage on the same day
  • Hands the newsroom a ranked list: if the first story fails verification, the next one is tried, up to 1 article per day

What I don’t do

  • Writing articles: that is the journalists' job
  • Checking facts or sources — Cy Tation, Vera Fy
  • Publishing: only Marco Scarito can approve and merge an article
